Maybe you heard about the recent listing of the Pearl River Map Turtle as Threatened on the Endangered Species Act? It drew some interest amongst groups of turtle enthusiasts as the Service used the Similarity of Appearance clause to protect. Dr. Selman’s perspective on this is rather unique as it would take you less time to read a genetic code than it would to read his works with Graptemys!
