However, within a mere 24 hours, his hope was hanging by a thread due to the words of Jezebel. He failed to protect his heart when faced with adversity. Remember, a single negative word can have a profound impact if you don't safeguard your inner world. Are you dealing with your own version of Jezebel? Is it the external criticism that's causing the trouble?
The real issue in the story of Elijah was what he told himself. He lost something important that day and it was - hope. And when hope slips away, so does strength and joy. It's a dangerous downward spiral.
