To understand why your partner also has a partner you must look at Nairobi relationships as an ecosystem with consumers, producers and those that don't fit in either of the two—you.
Nairobi relationships can be classified into three major classes. Producers. I don't need to explain this especially after that debauchery filled weekend in Naivasha. These are the people that fund(read enable smooth running of) relationships. It is an open secret that contrary to what you have been told, money is the root of all relationships. And by relationships I mean Nairobi relationships and by Nairobi relationships I mean all relationships.
There are consumers. Those that went to Naivasha just because of Thursday they were asked, “uko?” and they answered correctly. That is the other thing, learn to answer correctly if you want it easy in matters mapenzi or anasa. Sanasana anasa.
The third group is the misfit. You fall here. Huna pesa. Huna gari. Uko tu na mtu na huyo mtu ako na mtu ako na vitu wewe huna. But on days their mtu is not available you are their mtu and this counts for something.
In this episode, you may learn that your friend cannot be your girlfriend's friend and the converse is true. And that person they keep telling you usijali about, that is the person. That is the producer to your consumer. They are the ones that have kept your relationship alive. When you notice that a Nairobi relationship is very peaceful, just know that is has become a throuple at the very least. People that date exclusively one person are constantly mad at each other. Simply put, your relationship's other relationship is the cause of peace in your relationship.
