The elders have failed to empower the next generation of young men as well as young women for the role of leadership. It seems more important to consolidate the power than to empower.
As a result, the organizations have become dated and out of touch when it comes to the outreach programs for today's youth.
As a community, many of our fathers have lost their way. Many black men have surrendered the strength of their parenting to the state and to society as a whole. We have allowed pop culture to replace heritage, tradition, and virtuous integrity.
