Every year, Jagannath Rath Yatra is organised at Puri in Odisha. Various stories are associated with this festival and a lot of magic pertains to the history of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Maa Subhadra. On the second (dwitiya) day of shukla pakshya (waxing cycle of moon) of Āshādha Māsa (3rd month of Odia Calendar), Rath yatra is celebrated not only in Odisha but in India as well as in parts of the world.
