Description

Jess and Paula have had many clients who are wondering whether they are in the right career, and how to pick a new one?

Whether you are just graduating from college or you are in the height of your career, you can pick and change into a new career with little to no risk, and there is a science-based way to do this.

Have you ever tried a sport or a hobby to find out if you would enjoy it? Did you know you can do the same with a new career or a calling? Today we’ll explore Dr. Herminia Ibarra's research on pivoting into a completely different career. Ibarra researches people who are in the midst of a career change, and she observed that people who do so successfully have one thing in common: they try out jobs to see if they "fit". This is because our work is an extension of our identity, and as we grow, we inevitably change.

Dr. Ibarra says you don't have to quit your job to find your calling. Instead, she suggests taking small steps to find out if you like something new before you take the leap.

In this episode we talk about three strategies to find your calling in a different career path:

  1. Crafting Experiments
  2. Shifting Connections
  3. Making Sense
