Description

The General Election in November saw a 52% increase on the number of women running for election but, despite these record numbers contesting for seats, the numbers of women elected remains chronically low - making Ireland one of the worst in Europe for the number of women in elected public office. Adrianne is joined by Brian Sheehan, CEO of Women for Election to discuss why this might be and how we can aim to get more women elected and have a more gender balanced government in the future. Brian states that, although we can’t vote in the upcoming 2025 Seanad election, we should research the candidates and contact our local councillors to ask them to vote for one of the female candidates.
