The Declaration of Independence is one three founding documents that created America as we know it today. This founding document was designed to make America or the thirteen colonies its own country alone from Great Britain. The most famous line from the Declaration of Independence is the following: "We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed". It's really important to understand three questions in regards to understanding the Declaration of Independence: What does it say, How did it happen, and How was it made. This document is an essential when learning about America's founding fathers and the start of America as a country.
