Maybe you have an affinity for ball sports and play a ball sport yourself. Football is certainly the best known in our latitudes. What is so fascinating about the ball? It doesn't matter whether it's a small ball like table tennis or a bigger one like football: there are usually two teams playing against each other and the ball plays a decisive role in the success or the final result. Is it only a means to an end? Namely, to find out who is better? But better with what or in what? Of course, the game can be seen as a competition and the winner is celebrated. But a ball is basically a plaything, something joyful. In a competitive environment, it is the device that determines success or failure. In the actual game, it is the unifying element that makes playing together possible in the first place.
