Description

Cherry picking is a figurative word for a selfish effort to secure only the most attractive parts of something in order to leave the more unattractive ones to others." So says Wikipedia. In politics or in argumentation this is also used: one speaks only of the positive or the aspects that support one's own point of view, but not of the whole truth. There is something contemptuous about this behaviour from my point of view. Because it does not take the needs of the environment or the other person seriously, but only focuses on one's own advantage. Depending on the context, this may be considered a success, especially in a business environment when it comes to closing a deal. But in the long run, it is unhealthy. The quote from the physician Paracelsus also applies here: "All things are poison, and nothing is without poison; it is only the dose that makes a thing not a poison. Indeed: such behaviour poisons. Not only the atmosphere, not only the trust of those involved and deceived - but much worse: one's own heart. Therefore: cherries yes, but not without the environment containing them.

I wish you an extraordinary day!
