I mentioned the importance of the car windscreen some time ago. It is enormously helpful or even essential for travelling at the speeds that are normal for cars today. Without this windscreen, our eyes would probably water and we would be in danger of no longer being able to see clearly due to contamination from dust particles in our eyes and therefore no longer being able to react. This would be a great danger to ourselves and others. Ski goggles have the same effect: at high downhill speeds, they still allow us to see clearly, especially in snow flurries. However, it is important to remember that both the windscreen and the ski goggles must be clean and well maintained. Dirty or defective goggles can be as fatal as no goggles at all. Therefore: protective mechanisms are good - but only as long as they are maintained. This also applies to our soul and our spirit.
