Do you personally know people who work in construction? They often work physically and are exposed to the sometimes adverse weather conditions. They accomplish an enormous amount and yet are hardly noticed. Yet - without them, where would we live? The house you live in was built by construction workers you probably never met. So others have worked enormously so that you now have a good roof over your head. So many people invest in our lives again and again, often indirectly. Politicians are committed to security and justice, researchers to better medicines, and so on. Servants of society. Perhaps it is a day to be grateful for all that is done and from which we benefit without any contribution from us. And maybe your commitment, whether professional or voluntary, will benefit us all.
