At the Venice Carnival, special masks are used to cover the eyes. In addition to covering the entire body with these masks, the eyes are also made unrecognizable so that the person cannot be recognized directly. Nevertheless, the mask allows you to look at others with your own eyes. This is contradictory: on the one hand, I don't want to be recognized, yet I want to recognize others and use the mask to keep my view of others clear. Sounds clever. But if everyone acts like this, everyone ends up wearing masks and everyone looks at each other and no one recognizes anyone else. But not clever. It's often exactly the same in life: you see an advantage for yourself, behave accordingly and perhaps actually have this advantage in certain situations - but then the others act in the same way and ultimately not only is the advantage gone, but everyone is poorer - or as in Venice: unrecognizable and therefore unrelated.
