Surely you know people who have a tattoo, or maybe even a lot of them, or others who wear very original jewellery that stands out. Some do it simply because they like it, but my guess is that for some it is also to send a certain non-verbal message. I don't always understand it and I don't want to imply or misinterpret anything. But in any case, I think that behind it there is a kind of call for the desire to be noticed. Maybe you know such people or even work with them or meet them regularly. Maybe it's time to ask them why they are wearing or have had this or that done - and who knows what kind of open, personal conversation might result and how the non-verbal might turn into a relationship conversation.
