Description

We have the saying in German that people meet at eye level. By that we mean we are equal, whether that refers to a certain level of performance or to a certain status in a hierarchy. The image is actually very beautiful: I am standing opposite someone and this person is virtually of the same physical size as I am, so that our eyes are at the same level and neither I nor the other person have to look up or down at the other person. Eye contact is important in communication. Eyes reveal a lot, give a deep insight and speak without words. It is not without reason that they are called the windows of the soul. And the fact that we are allowed to look in through these windows at the same level is a privilege - just: equal eye level. Parents practise this with their children when they deliberately bend down or kneel in front of them. God also does this - very concretely in his life and incarnation in his Son Jesus. Impressive.

I wish you an extraordinary day!
