When we speak of Fuchsschwanz in German (in English foxtail) - it is actually not quite clear what we are talking about. Is it actually the rear part of the animal, i.e. the fox, or is it the saw that serves as a tool for the carpenter or woodworker (which is the same word)? Supposedly, the saw is called that because it bears a certain resemblance to the tail of the fox, i.e. its rear extremity. Depending on the context, of course, it becomes clear what it is all about. But that is not always the case. Communication often has its pitfalls and it is easy for people to talk past each other, misunderstand each other and, in the worst case, even get into an unnecessary argument. If you find tension in a conversation today, think of the fox's tail and how easy it is for misunderstandings to arise because we fill and define terms differently. In this way you can perhaps protect yourself from injuries - so that no one unpacks the saw for their own argument...
