In the language of design or in the environment of design, there is the principle form follows function. This means that the form or the exterior is subordinate to the functionality or is derived from it. In concrete terms, this can mean: A chair leg is simply a sufficiently thick, straight piece of wood sawn to the right length. Nothing more. No ornamentation as we know it from antique chairs or throne armchairs or the like. If you follow this principle consistently, then we live in a purely functional world and we humans will also be reduced at some point to our pure function as reproductive or performance beings, etc. I find that dangerous. I therefore believe that as human beings we need more than a functioning life. We also long for the beautiful, for what is not necessary but beneficial to us. Do you take this need sufficiently into account in your life and that of your environment? How do you do that?
I wish you an extraordinary day!
