Unlike the eyes, our ears are not located in a plane with the same orientation, but are placed exactly opposite each other, i.e. facing away from each other. Both serve to receive information, but in completely opposite directions. Hearing does not mean understanding. Hearing, in the sense of understanding, does not only happen with the ears. Only when I pick up signals and draw conclusions from them do I hear. Whether with the ears or the eyes. Jesus spoke a lot with and to the people. He once said in the context of his remarks: "Take care to listen carefully! For to him who has, it will be given; but from him who does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken away." I find that exciting. Apparently, one can listen in an uplifting way. If you already have something - perhaps trust in what you hear - this can be increased and deepened by further listening.
