Just a few years ago, opening and closing a door was clear: with a metal key. Today, this is no longer so clear. While there are still locks that are considered mechanical locks, electronic locking mechanisms are also used today. I can operate a locking device in a hotel with a card or a chip and in other places with a smartphone or in a car with a contactless electronic signal. In German, people used to use beard keys because they had this conspicuous part at the end that was used to lock and unlock the mechanism in the lock. In English it is a bit. I like that: bit as in computer science. And there, as we know, there is only 1 or 0. Or, as with the lock: closed or open. And we also talk about open or closed personalities in people. Which do you consider yourself to be and why, and could this change?
