In my parents' house, where I grew up, the Autumn Fair, one of the biggest funfairs or fairs as they are called, was only a few hundred metres away. Where I live today, it's a bit further - but I still live in the city where it takes place. Many people come to Basel especially to enjoy themselves. I live here. Still: if I don't go, I don't get anything out of it. So it doesn't matter how close or far away I am from it: even on my doorstep - if I don't go, it passes me by. So it is with some things in our lives: the opportunities are there and it would take little effort, maybe even just an active decision, to take advantage of those opportunities. Yet we miss some or many of them and they pass us by unused. Do you know this? Do you have regrets or do you regret missed opportunities? Perhaps today is a day to resolutely seize them when they arise.
