I see a photo in front of me from my teenage years. That was almost 40 years ago. Yet the memories of the picture are as fresh as if it had been taken only recently. The style of dress and the hairstyle make it clear that the picture does not fit into our time. Such a picture triggers memories, feelings, experiences that I would otherwise not be able to actively bring to mind. When I look at the picture, I feel transported back to the moment and the situation of that time. I am the same, but still different, I look different today, I have gained life experience and yet the person in the picture is infinitely familiar to me. If it had been the other way round, if I had been shown a picture back then of how I look today - I would hardly have believed it. So I am left marvelling at how easily 40 years can be skipped. It shows me how relative the time component in our lives is and how non-linear. So everything has its time. Also on this day.
