Description

In my naivety I thought that pine cones were full of seeds and when the cones fell to the ground they would be carried away by animals such as squirrels, rot somewhere and there the seeds of these cones would give rise to new trees. Far from it! There are male and female cones and when the time is ripe, the male parts, the pollen, are carried by the wind to the female parts, the seeds, and when it hits, the pollen fertilises the seeds and that is the beginning of a tree embryo. Later in good weather the fertilised seeds open and are carried away by the wind or animals to become a new growth. What a process, what a risk that it could go wrong. Why not let it all become in one cone? My impression is that it takes trust, faith in this becoming and this faith without control is rewarded in the end. For me, an impressive analogy to the Christian faith.

I wish you an extraordinary day!
