Description

Luke the physician tells a story from about 2000 years ago about two main characters. A man called Jairus and his daughter and a woman whom he does not mention by name. Now it is culturally explainable that due to the social structures of the time, women were considered less important and were therefore not mentioned by name, precisely because of their lesser significance. What is interesting about the story is that Jairus first asks Jesus for help for his dying daughter. Jesus sets out to help. But he is stopped by the unnamed woman who is seriously ill and is healed just by touching his clothes. He allows this to happen and as a consequence Jairu's daughter dies in the meantime. But no problem for Jesus: he goes and brings her back to life. I find it remarkable: whether named or not: both people were equally in need of help. For Jesus they were equally valuable, equally important, worthy of attention.

I wish you an extraordinary day!
