In German there is the saying 'having a roof over your head'. This means that you are not homeless. It does not mean that you have your own home, but you are not exposed to the wind and weather. I would say that Mary and Joseph had a roof over their heads in the stable at Christmas, but it wasn't their home. The easiest way to describe this expression is what it doesn't mean: being homeless. Homelessness seems to me to go further than in German. Homeless in the sense of no home, no homeland. Where we live, what or who offers us protection is just as important as the protection itself. King David also experienced this during his lifetime and he recorded it in writing in a text that has come down to us as Psalm 18. At the beginning he writes: "The LORD is my rock, my fortress. My God is my refuge, my shield and my fortress. Do you also have such a roof over your head?
I wish you an extraordinary day!
