I was having dinner with a friend the other day and the sun was shining beautifully through the window - when suddenly someone operated the external blinds and stopped the sun from coming in, i.e. created a shadow. I was more annoyed than grateful. On the other hand, in the hot summer we may long for shade. So shade covers, protects from the sun's rays. But we also know that sometimes we stand in someone else's shadow - that is, we are compared to or measured against someone else. Or an event casts a long shadow - that is, has repercussions for a long time. A shadow is not material and yet it is perceptible. So there are people and events in our biographies that also leave shadows - good ones in the sense of protection and bad ones in the sense of burden. In the latter case, one can also consciously step out of such shadows or, figuratively speaking, pull up the blinds again. Something for you?
I wish you an extraordinary day!
