Description

In earlier times, the moon and sun were often depicted with one face. Humans humanised these celestial bodies. I imagine that these celestial bodies lost some of their mightiness as a result. That may sound strange. But I think we humans can deal with it better if we have the impression that we have a living being - in whatever form - opposite us. It may be despotic or inaccessible, but we seem to be better able to deal with it, even if our powerlessness in the face of it does not change in any way. Perhaps because we believe that we may have a small sphere of influence even in the face of what we consider to be overpowering violence. And we often do the same with God. Christmas alone bears witness to this: how we portray the sweet baby Jesus. But that doesn't work with God. He is sovereign, infinitely greater than we can imagine. So it is all the more astonishing that he nevertheless becomes human.

I wish you an extraordinary day!
