Description

A trophy such as a medal or a cup in sport can be of varying value to the recipient - depending on the performance required for it, etc. However, the ideal value is certainly higher than the material value. Furthermore, there is a danger that if one identifies too strongly with the trophy, one's own personality may be damaged by atrophy or dependence, too strong an attachment to the award. Then it becomes unhealthy and the trophy becomes an addictive identity-giver that demands constant attention and respect. The Bible warns against what is called idolatry: that is, the materialisation of an idea of a higher power. I imagine that this warning or prohibition is precisely related to what is described: the danger of becoming dependent on something in an unhealthy way, instead of living in the dignity given as a free creature in a healthy relationship with the Creator. Do you live in this freedom?

I wish you an extraordinary day!
