Today I am speaking with Sandi Small, a British accent expert who works closely with American Actors to utilise the British English speech & language to confidently land their dream roles. Sandi, originally from the North of England, has been teaching for more than 20 years and working closely with actors for the last three.
We discuss the importance of culture in shaping your accent, how English does not belong to anyone… and some of the key differences of British and American English.
We also touch on the varieties of British accents, what accent you should train as a non-native English speaker and some of the difficulties American actors have in understanding the British culture and language.
