Listen

Description

In this episode, we cover useful studying tips and techniques for your early years (and beyond) of medical school. Topics we covered are below with specific tips that we discussed included next to each topic:

(1) Uninterrupted studying - minimize distractions ("Impulse Blocker" browser add on)

(2) Timed blocks of studying - Pomodoro technique ("Be Focused" app) and Parkinson's Law

(3) Laying out your goals beforehand - use to-do lists and ensure your most important task gets done first

(4) Learning in layers and not all details at once - try to learn fundamental principles first (ie, Pathoma, Boards/Beyond, general texts) before taking deep dives (ie, what is explained in lecture)

(5) Utilization of reinforcement mechanisms - Anki or practice questions (U-World, USMLE Rx, Amboss, Osmosis)
