Description

Another comedy anime this week.  A simple slice of life "pseudo" harem show, Toradora is well-regarded in the anime community.  I liked re-watching it recently.  The characters are well written and their banter back and forth is great.  However, I argue that the show suffers due to its main characters, just as much as they elevate it.

When you look past the comedic nature and the goofiness, you kinda wonder if Taiga and Ryuji really work as a couple.  My argument is a strange one.  Probably going to be unpopular to.  I contend that Taiga (if done in reality) would be grounds for a weird, almost abusive relationship that's kind of...wrong.  Taiga is played for laughs, but when a second more viable, less in-your-face and derogatory option (Ami) exists, I just speculate Ryuji probably wouldn't subject himself to this "relationship" at all.

I'm overthinking some dumb comedy anime.  It's probably going to ruffle some feathers, but Taiga is as much as great character as she...kinda sucks.  The show is played for laughs, and no one should mean I hate this show BECAUSE she exists.  I just think the weird premise the show is based on also doesn't make up for its lack of originality.  But yes...I am saying Ami is best girl.
