Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped from her home in Salt Lake City, Utah in the middle of the night on June 5, 2002, when she was just 14 years old. Brian Mitchell and Wanda Barzee chained Elizabeth up as their prisoner for 9 months before she was found and brought home to her family. Elizabeth Smart has her own foundation now called, The Elizabeth Smart Foundation and her mission is to bring hope and end victim shaming and exploitation of sexual assault through prevention, recovery, and advocacy.
