Dealing With Sins Part 2
Titus 2:11-12 – For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

1. Defining sins.
a. Sin is unrighteousness – 1John 5:17 – List of unrighteousness – 1Cor 6:9-10, Rom 1:29-32,
b. Sin is disobedience to God and fulfilling the desires of our flesh – Rom 5:12-14, Gal 5:19-21, Eph 2:1-3.
c. Romans 14:23 – When no clear instruction is given, it is a sin to go against your belief.
d. James 4:17 – If you know to do something good and choose not to, it’s a sin.

2. Dispensational sins
a. Many people use 1John 3:4 as a definition of sin, but we are not under the law today – Rom 6:14. Also, sin was said to have entered when “there was no law” – Rom 5:12-13.
b. Gods moral standard never changes but his instructions do – compare Lev 11:1-8 to 1Tim 4:1-5.
c. Although we are not under the law, we can use the moral law to show one’s sins – 1Tim 1:8-10

3. How to deal with sins in the church
a. We are to be forgiving – Eph 4:32. 2Cor 2:5-10,
b. Concerning an elder – 1Tim 5:1,19-20.
c. Concerning those who are teaching wrong doctrine - 2Tim 2:16-18, 1Tim 1:19-20, Rom 16:17.
d. Concerning those who are living in wickedness – 1Cor 5, 2Thess 3:14-15, Titus 3:10.
e. “Deliver unto Satan” means to kick them out, not have company with them – 1Cor 5:5 see vs 2,7,9,11,13. 1Tim 1:20 see 2Tim 2:16-17. 2Thess 3:10-14.
f. Church discipline is done by - 1) Gods word – 2Tim 3:16. 2) Those in authority – 1Cor 4:15, 1Thess 5:12, 2Tim 4:2, Titus 1:5-14.
