Purpose by Design is honored to introduce Martinette James who has such an amazing testimony that is sure to touch many. She grew up in the Caribbean which sounds like a dream, but it wasn’t for her which we will delve into later. Martinette is a mother of 4 beautiful children, formerly was a child educator, and is currently working in the health-care sector. She explains she is just living experiences. She also is a co-author for the international Amazon best-seller anthology book “Women of the Powervoice”
She grew up being told her voice didn’t matter, her story didn’t matter etc. As a young child which is a very molding time - paralyzed her for a time where she felt she shouldn’t speak her opinion or share what was on her mind. If this was not enough, Martinette suffered from experiences that no child should have to.
It was a vicious cycle that was brought into a failed marriage where she married a man at 18 young years of age. She was told that she was lucky she got her prior husband as she was “used goods” as she had gotten physically abused. It got so bad she contemplated taking her life, but the Lord stepped in by using her 3-year-old.
Martinette speaks on how she attracted bad things in her life due to the paradigm she was in. She was at a point where she could not look men in the eyes, and was getting beaten to a point she had to wear sunglasses to cover the bruises around her eyes. Her sister stepped in, offered to watch our guest’s children, and told her to essentially “You need to get out of here!”
When Martinette got to the United States, after about 3 weeks in a bed New York and felt no new bruises - this was so refreshing for her. She went to school and earned her degree. She ended up getting divorced and remarried to another guy - where the same tragedies happened as she was still stuck in a paradigm prison.
She thanks the pandemic for letting her find Les Brown, find her power voice, and find her destiny where her story can help others who are going through something similar.
