BRAIN SPOTTING AND GAZE SPOTTING

Purpose by Design is so excited to introduce to you: Deidre A Calcoate:  a Transformational Life Coach, Brainspotting Practitioner, Trainer and Mentor, as well as Author.

Today is focused on Brain-Spotting and Gaze-Spotting where Deidre takes Pamela through a Gaze-Spotting Session you will not want to miss! She quit her 9-5 to do her 24-7!

You may wonder what brain-spotting is - it started in 2003 from David Grand, Ph.D.

Brain spotting is a brain-body-mindfulness therapy…what we know is where you look affects how you feel. We know that our brains are remarkable parts of us - where we feel things in our body - our brain is associated with it. Brainspotting is using a pointer, and we have people look at that pointer so they can go deep within their brains to connect with those cells that hold trauma, other experiences that they’ve had that have not been able to heal. Your eyes and brain are connected - but where you look matters. A client can be looking at the ground or looking at the pointer and talking the whole time or not talking at all….the client is the lead. This can be used with other forms of therapy as well. Deidre uses brain-spotting with her life coaching skills with this depending on what the person wants. When working with couples - she wants to talk to them individually as well as together.

What started this was called EMDR, and eye-movement therapy. She talks about how Dr. David helped an ice-skater who couldn’t do a triple-loop

and he noticed where her eyes were going - he went deep with her and discovered some trauma had not been healed, healed her, and she never had trouble again doing that stunning move.

Deidra was physically and emotionally abused as a child, some of those memories were not healed and she has since been doing brain spotting and healing - those things have come up and are healing.

Desire talks about Gaze Spotting as well - a guided meditation as you are finding that place where you can gaze and put your focus on. I got something to look at - I'm ready to reflect and think, I'm ready to hear what my next steps are. When you gaze at a spot - you want to feel where you are activated. You are too look at the horizon straight ahead, stay there for a minute and breathe and feel God coming through. Then you look at either the right or left as far as you can, identify where you are feeling more grounded or neutral, and that is where you should stay.
