Aurélie Disasi, also known as Aru Lee has worked in the arts and cultural sector for over 10 years navigating as a poet, writer, and workshop coordinator. This work has also led them to work as a dramaturg in Brussels. Through their experiences and knowledge, they aim to create safer spaces that address topics around racial inequality within workspaces, while tackling the impact such environments have on mental health for BIPOC communities. As a Black queer person, Aru has and still overcomes the daily barriers addressed to both Black and queer people, yet they create their table and fight the lack of diversity and inclusion. Born to two Congolese parents, Aru was born in Belgium and raised in Botswana. They moved back to Brussels a few years ago where during their studies they juggled between working as an artist, and a freelance workshop coordinator. In this episode, we will hear about Aru's professional journey in the artistic field and the behind-the-scenes of navigating life around family, society and work.

Aurélie Disasi, também conhecide como Aru Lee têm 10 anos de experiência no setor artístico e têm trabalhado como poete, escritore, coordenadore de workshops, e dramaturgue. O seu trabalho consiste em criar espaços seguros onde as questões raciais possam ser abordadas, assim como os impactos que têm na saúde mental das comunidades BIPOC. Ao mesmo tempo que cria espaços de resistência e luta contra a falta de diversidade e inclusão nos locais de trabalho, Aru ultrapassa diariamente os obstáculos colocados às pessoas negres e queers. Filhe de pais congoleses, Aru nasceu na Bélgica e cresceram no Botsuana. Ilu regressou à Bélgica onde combina os trabalhos artísticos, com os workshops e os estudos. Neste episódio Aru deu-nos a conhecer a sua jornada profissional e pessoal no seio familiar, na sociedade, e nos locais onde já trabalhou.
