Description

What strategies are your students using to learn? This week we talk with Pascale Alard, PhD, who is Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Louisville. We discuss her Educator Grand Rounds, in which she spoke on effective teaching and learning strategies. Dr. Alard describes how students often rely on ineffective strategies like re-reading, but faculty can help students develop more effective strategies with resources such as the Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve, Dweck’s work on Mindset, and McGuire’s excellent Teach Yourself How to Learn.
