We're here in Northern Minnesota, North of Park Rapids at Rick's Aviation Adventures. And we're here today to talk to Rick Mercil, you might see some of the resemblance. He's actually my brother. He has a very interesting business which is unique in the aviation business. You can see the floatplane behind us. Rick has been teaching aviation for over 43 years and spends his weekends giving instructional lessons to pilots who want to add a certificate onto their existing commercial certificate or private certificate. RAA specializes in seaplane ratings and tailwheel endorsements.
ABOUT RAA:
Rick is a Federal Aviation Administration licensed pilot and flight instructor with the following ratings: ATP-airline transport pilot, COMM-commercial single engine and multi-engine, INST-instrument, CFI-certified flight instructor, CFII-certified flight instructor/instrument, MEI-multi-engine instructor and seaplane pilot and instructor. Rick is a seasoned pilot with 41-plus years of experience and has flown Sea Planes, aerobatics, crop sprayers, turboprops, corporate jets, and airliners. Rick was a ground and flight instructor at the University of Minnesota Crookston and served as the Chief flight instructor at the University of North Dakota. He worked on NASA general aviation initiatives and had the honor of being named Flight Instructor of the Year in North Dakota in 1994. Rick has a passion for vintage aircraft and enjoys sharing his experiences and love of flying with others. Rick’s Seaplane course will be a fun experience full of learning and aviation adventure.
