We must remember Satan is always seeking to establish a kingdom that disrupts, discredits and destroys Gods desires over the earth. It often looks like he is winning such as in Daniels day, but God will obtain His testimony! His purpose and plan is like a mighty freight train rolling through time. He is simply looking for men and women, He only needs a few, to overcome whatever age they live! Overcoming saints provides the rails upon which this freight train can roll. Daniel was such a man. He not only stood apart from the world in which he lived, but he he was constantly after what God was after. Yes, he knew the prophecy regarding their captivity and return to Jerusalem, but Daniel just did not hope for it but he actively and constantly was praying for it to come to pass. Three times a day he opened his windows and poured out his heart to bring God’s People back to God’s purpose in Jerusalem. He overcame the age. He lived in by constantly praying for God‘s purpose to come to fruition. This was Daniel and his companions. They rejected Babylon and longed for Jerusalem. We have seen Daniel stand apart from Babylon. Now Here in chapter 6 we see his constant cooperation with God manifested through his prayer life. Constantly talking with God, calling upon Him and believing that this is what should consume a Jewish man in Babylon. What consumes you in these last days? You know the general prophetic word about what God is going to do, but do you know that God is still longing for the new Jerusalem, Revelations 21, 22? Your prayer life will reveal it! Did you know this is God’s hearts desire at the end of all the ages, his eternal purpose? To be an Overcomer in these last days means that there is such a zeal for what God wants, not for what you want, not for where you want to go , not for your prophetic interpretation of events to play out, but for the simplicity that God wants the New Jerusalem! This should be our constant prayer and desire. Discover what God wants, the new Jerusalem, what the new Jerusalem is and who it’s made for, God! May the zeal of God’s house, just eat us up like it ate Daniel up! Pray and fast, stretch out our hands and call upon God Towards God’s eternal purpose, the new Jerusalem. We see in Daniel chapter 1 this verse: "And Daniel continued until the first year of Cyrus the king." (Daniel 1:21) This means he lived a consistent life of prayer for over seventy years. He eventually saw king Cyrus aid in assisting Gods people return to Jerusalem with plans to rebuild and restore Gods eternal purpose on earth. He overcame! You and I may know the prophecy, but are we praying for it to come to pass like we’ve never prayed before? This is what it means to be overcomer in these last days.
