Description

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him and dine with him and he with Me." (Revelation 3:20) Often I’ve heard this verse used to help unbelievers realize how the Lord wants to come into their heart as Savior. We may borrow this as an illustration for the gospel but we need to make sure we put it back where it belongs. The Jesus described in revelations chapter 1 is knocking on the door of the church. How inappropriate for him to be outside of the door. But we can see in these last days that the church has become so many things other than just the life of Jesus Christ enjoyed among the members. This church lacks revelation of Jesus Christ. It has many good works, much organization much even in the name of God. At the judgment seat of Christ many believers will say “but Lord…” in response to the declaration that He must spit this out of his mouth. In closing the chapters on these 7 churches I hope we realize how serious the Lord is about his church. My prayer is for you and me to consider that the Lord is walking amongst the churches even today, measuring, tasting, and looking for what is compatible with his life and for his purpose. May we consider that we will stand in judgment one day. So let us drop our ideas of what we want, or our opinion that He would never judge us in this way and really just see that the Lord is determined to accomplish his goal. We are under a time constraint, he is not. Let us redeem the time in these evil days and therefore may we hear what the spirit is saying to these churches.
