Why is there such a pull from this?
What is it about the Performance or pleasurable things that brings us temporary “happiness”, masks sadness, or gives us something that we try to fill the hole in our soul?
Fears that might be associated with giving up the idol:
Fear of a lack of control
Fear of not being enough
Fear of missing out on good things
Fear of feeling pain
So how do we abide through this idol and bring it under God’s direction?
Communicate with the Lord about the fears
Bring them to him and search the scriptures for promises of Him providing. He was given the name Jehovah Jireh for a reason. Where has he provided before in the Word? Writing out in a journal each and every time something is paid for, but that you have no idea where the money came from is a great way to notice his provision.
