I first met Morven when she was the Director of Community Development at Lake Macquarie Council. I found her to be sharp and knowledgeable as well as deeply passionate about making a difference for the community she served. Fast forward to now, over a decade later and Morven is the CEO of the Council, leading over 1200 staff and driving the agenda for positive change, growth and opportunity for the city. In this interview I dive into asking Morven about her early career, what led her to be CEO today, the mentors, challenges and guiding principles that have helped her along the way. While calm and self assured, Morven is not always comfortable in front of the camera however her story is a great leadership tale of learning to empower and leverage the strengths and talents of your team, staying true to your own personal values and integrity and creating clear boundaries and guard rails for maintaining a balance with family life and work. ______________________________________________________
