While Batman begins was well received by critics and audiences, it didn't exactly light the world on fire. The Dark Knight, by comparison, was the equivalent of the Earth colliding with the sun. With Heath Ledger's iconic Joker performance leading the way, The Dark Knight enraptured audiences as it transcended the superhero genre with its innovative storytelling and filmmaking.
