Years ago a well loved comedian did a routine about his studious girlfriend, a philosophy major who asked seemingly unfathomable questions like, “why is there air?” He meant it to be funny. But it is a serious question why does anything exist? Why is there something rather than nothing? Why are we here in church or anywhere? The answer from scripture of course is very clear that God created everything in the beginning. God is the creator and sustainer of all things and this is what guides us in our lives, and gives us a foundation of faith to avoid living lives of practical atheism, as if there were no God.
