What is a Promise?
A promise is an assurance that a particular thing will happen. The promises of God in the Bible are just that. He gives us promises that we can stand on.
Today’s promise comes from Psalm 34:11
11 Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord Martin Luther is said to have said, “I fear God because God can squash me; I love God because God does not.” Fearing the Lord means to be in reverent awe of His holiness. To honor Him as the God of great glory, majesty, purity and power. Consider the amazing power that He continues to exercise over his creation–including humankind. How he keeps the sun from coming too close to the earth. How he keeps the oceans at bay. How our body parts work in conjunction with each other. Childbirth.
