According to the Mother Wound Project, The mother wound is all the pain someone carries with them that comes from being harmed in one specific way or in many different ways by their own mother. This harm might have occurred when they were a baby, a child, a teen or an adult, it might have been short term (i.e. a one-time event) or long term (i.e. ongoing), and it might have been emotional, physical, religious/spiritual, financial and/or sexual in nature.
In a nutshell, for both males and females, it’s when your mom who carried you in her stomach for 9 months never, has or doesn’t know how to connect with you emotionally or with intense feeling. It’s a deficit in the mother-daughter or mother-son relationship that is passed down through generations and is a reflection on how we have experienced parenting and affects how we parent and how we navigate relationships.
