Growing Pains, written by Catherine Argyrople and Mariana Fabian, is a coming-of-age story about identity, sexuality, and the aftermath of surviving cancer inspired by Catherine's experience as a cancer survivor. The film follows childhood best friends Zoe Christopoulos and Natalia "Nat" Guzman during the summer before high school as their friendship begins to drift apart, and they each set out on their own journey of self-discovery. The film was notably written, directed, produced, and filmed by women, supporting female filmmakers while spotlighting diverse stories about young women. Mariana Fabian and Catherine Argyrople join us today to talk to us about Growing pains, their paths into the film industry, and independent filmmaking.
