Growing up I always admired the artistic talent Melissa exhibited at such a young age. Not only would she sketch out cute characters, she would also create beautiful back stories for each and everyone of them. As children you never really come to realize the pressures placed on you by the outside world or the hardships you undergo at the hands of your parents. Nonetheless, art's meditative qualities allowed Melissa and I to escape the emotional turmoil and simply be present within life's most toughest moments.
