Have you ever heard of a Last Will and Testament? What do you think happens when you encounter this here in the Philippines? Atty. Erwin, what is the first thing that comes into mind when we think of Wills?  Let me guess…may malaking sala. Everyone is seated. Nakaitim lahat. Darating na si Attorney na matanda. Naka black suit. May dalang malaking attache case. Bubuksan. Babasahin yung Will…Tapos… Is it really like that?

Our question for today comes from Emily S. who asks: “Attorney, please advise us. My father died 6 months ago due to Covid. We found a handwritten Will among his things. The Will says that it leaves 2 of his properties to my mom, to me and my siblings.  Can we submit my dad’s Will to the property registration office so that they can transfer the titles to us? Our relatives say that we should submit it to court. Is that true? Please help clarify our next steps should be.”

If you are in a similar situation as Emily, stay tuned as we answer her question.  This video was brought to you by the Estate Settlement Guide.
