In 1996 the body of six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey was found in her Boulder, Colorado, home. A white knotted rope and a broken paintbrush were found at the scene. Michael Vail recalled that a high school classmate named Gary Oliva was fascinated with knotted ropes and stealing paint supplies. Oliva had been arrested for child pornography and was in the area when the Ramsey homicide occurred.
