In this episode, one of my most treasured friends - Lauren Swain -shares her story, her victory over addiction, her love life, and together we walk through a "race consultation". She opens up about pieces of her journey and what it's like being an African-American Woman in todays world. Raised with a narrative of dignity and pride for her heritage, Lauren's foundation was rooted in Christ. Along the way, she experienced bullying, racial slurs, demeaning comments, and other things that someone of a different color (like me) may not even realize is a common occurrence in others' daily lives. But for each "depth", Lauren has allowed God to exchange her pain for new heights and is using her voice to make a difference. Her passion is to celebrate humanity, to value each persons individual story, and see the world work in harmony - just as it is in Heaven.
